The tilt angle is the angle at which a solar panel is inclined from horizontal. It’s an important factor in solar panel installation, as the optimal tilt angle maximizes sun exposure and energy production over the year. The ideal angle usually depends on the latitude of the location (often close to the latitude angle) and may be adjusted seasonally in fixed systems or continuously in tracking systems. Proper tilt helps panels capture more direct sunlight, improving performance. In project design, engineers consider tilt angle along with panel orientation (azimuth) to ensure the system generates the most electricity possible given site conditions.
