Measurement
A kilowatt (kW) is a unit of power equal to 1,000 watts. It commonly measures the capacity of solar panels, wind turbines, and other generators, as well as the power usage of electrical equipment. For example, a 5 kW solar PV system can produce up to five kilowatts of power under peak sunlight. This unit helps indicate the size of a renewable energy system or the rate of electricity consumption (e.g., a heater might use 1 kW of power when running).
