Measurement
A kilowatt-hour (kWh) is a unit of energy equal to one kilowatt (1,000 watts) of power used or generated for one hour. It’s the standard unit for measuring electricity consumption and production over time. For instance, if a 1 kW solar panel runs at full power for one hour, it produces 1 kWh of energy. Electric bills charge customers per kWh of electricity used, and similarly, the output of a solar farm might be discussed in kWh (or MWh) generated per day or year.
