Grid

General

Definition

The electrical grid (or simply the grid ) is the interconnected network of power lines, substations, transformers, and related infrastructure that delivers electricity from producers to consumers. It consists of generation (power plants, including solar farms and wind farms), transmission lines (high-voltage lines moving power long distances), and distribution networks (lower-voltage lines delivering power locally). The grid must constantly balance supply and demand to maintain stable electricity supply. Integrating renewable energy into the grid involves managing variability and often updating grid infrastructure (smart grids, energy storage) to maintain reliability.
