Financial Close

Finance

Definition

Financial close is the point in project financing when all necessary funding agreements have been signed and conditions met, allowing the project to officially proceed with full funding in place. In the context of a solar or renewable project, reaching financial close means debt financing (loans), equity investments, and any subsidies or tax equity deals are firmly committed. This milestone indicates that investors and lenders have completed due diligence and are confident in the project’s viability. After financial close, funds can be drawn to begin construction and implementation.
