Carbon Footprint

Measurement

Definition

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (measured in CO 2 equivalent) emitted directly or indirectly by an individual, organization, event, or product. In energy terms, it accounts for emissions from activities like electricity generation, transportation, and manufacturing. Renewable energy investments help lower carbon footprints by replacing fossil fuel-based power with cleaner alternatives, thereby reducing the CO 2 emissions associated with electricity use.
